What Am I Doing Here?
The Lord says, “I will make you wise and show you where to go. I will guide you and watch over you. —Psalm 32:8 NCV
Well, I’m a little behind on this second blog according to all the SEO advice, but I’m happy to say, I have stopped receiving phishing emails from people trying to sell me SEO stuff. (Check out my first blog to hear more about that.) I’ve been working on compiling and formatting additional content for the website, and I thought you might like to hear more about what I’m doing here in the first place. This is the business-y blog. Don’t worry, like my first blog, I’m not going to make it to 2,450 words today either.
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you may have already seen my 3-part series—“What Am I Doing Here?” I’ve also added video with all three parts together on YouTube if you’d like to check it out.
What I’m doing here boils down to music and resources (just like my logo says!). I’ll start with the music…I wanted to have a place put my music and have an option for people to contact me. I love hearing from churches who are using my songs in worship, and I wanted to make it easier for them to reach out if they have questions about a piece. Some churches share a blurb about the composer in their worship guide, and I really appreciate them wanting to get information directly from the source! The website and my social pages also give me places to announce new projects as they are released. You can like and follow my socials or subscribe to my mailing list for updates!
Now for the resources…Over my years in ministry in traditional and contemporary worship settings, I’ve collected and developed a variety of resources for worship. Some of these are for direct use in worship services, like songs and readings. These can be found on my Worship Resources page. On the Leader Resources page, you’ll find resources that have been a tremendous help to me as a worship leader and director. This page includes things like helpful websites and community forums that help with worship planning and implementation, as well resources that support the emotional, mental, and spiritual health of leaders. I am also offering consulting for ministry leaders who would benefit for more personalized assistance. It is my prayer that these resources will make life easier for others and remind them they are not alone in this. I will continue to add more items in the coming months.
If you’re counting, you’ve noticed that music and resources only add up to two parts, and I mentioned before that the “What Am I Doing Here?” series is three parts. Well, Part 3 of the series is more about what I’m not doing here and includes some reasons I didn’t want to do this. Moving into a more public forum is way out of my comfort zone. I am not setting out to be a social media influencer who is touting the latest trend or making a big display with the latest equipment. I was also hesitant to do this because the internet and social media platforms can be scary places to be. People are not always kind! Stick around for future blogs, and I’ll tell you about a time I accidentally got into a Facebook argument about the importance of Sabbath (believe me, I was just as surprised as you are.)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. —Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
And yet, even with some reservations, here I am. I want to follow where the Lord leads me, and in the past few months, God has led me to start this journey. I think a few years ago I would have answered the question ‘what am I doing here’ with “I’m here because I have lost my mind.” But as crazy as this endeavor seems, it feels like the right thing to do. I want to work for the Kingdom and share God’s goodness any way I can. I am excited to see how all of this unfolds. I know God’s plans for me are good, and his ways and thoughts are higher than mine. I can trust in that. As I’m typing this, I’m hearing The Great Adventure by Stephen Curtis Chapman and Geoff Moore
“Saddle up your horses, we've got a trail to blaze”…
Life with God is, in fact, a great adventure. Would you join me in prayer for this adventure? I will post updates on the journey periodically. Please feel free to share this website with anyone you know who could use the resources, and please follow me on my social pages. I would love to have some friendly faces and comments on my posts! Website clicks and Facebook and Instagram likes will also help others find me more easily. I share encouraging words, scriptures, and music on social media as well, so even if you’re not looking for resources, I hope you’ll stick around!
Thanks for reading!
